What Really Leads Me To Freelancing?

Updated: Dec 5, 2021

I have seen a lot of freelancers who’s living the life that they’ve dreamt of. The flexibility in schedule and the financial freedom are just some reasons why freelancers are a happy workforce in the world.

It all started when I did not get the promotion that I have worked for over four years. I remember that I was feeling lost and depressed and didn’t know what to do next. Then I called my friend Sharon. My motive was just to ask her why our school has not given her the clearance to take the board exam, because I was thinking at that time to make myself a Certified Public Accountant. I feel that to be a CPA is the only way to redeem myself from failure. I have read an adage a long time ago that says Success is the Best Revenge. As I was feeling a failure, I was trying to do something to be successful. Instead of talking about the requirements to file for the board exam, Sharon introduced me to freelancing. As she has gone also what I have been through. She also came from an organization as toxic as mine. And now Sharon is a happy Virtual Assistant, at the same time a Virtual Bookkeeper. She is already starting to realize her dream, which she had a hard time to do when she was in an office environment. I thought that if my friend was able to do it, Why not me?

I thought at first that the transition to freelancing is easy. I already had the skill of an accountant, I’m sure that I can just do bookkeeping as counting as one, two, three. But I was wrong. I had a hard time to get a Client, because in a virtual environment I am still a newbie. In a virtual world, I am naïve and I am not competitive. That’s why I enrolled myself to Surge Digital Academy and took up freelancing course to give me guidance on how to compete in a very competitive virtual world.

For someone like me who wanted to transition to freelancing these ideas may be of help:

1. One should understand first what professional life is all about virtually.

2. Have a skill that can be vouch through a certificate.

3. Go to a digital school.

4. Pay attention to the exercises because this maybe your work when you become a freelancer.

5. Send proposals when you feel you are ready.

Finally, If you asked me what’s the best digital school to get the freelancing skill, I say its Surge Digital Academy. Surge takes care of their student. They have this passion that one could never find in the other digital school. I know when my time comes when I get to be a Virtual Assistant, or a Virtual Bookkeeper, or a Social Media Manager, I know it will be the best version of myself because I came from and trained from Surge.
